Welcome, Physiotherapists!

On this page, you’ll find all the key information and quick videos you need to safely use Winback multifrequency machines on your patients.

how to run a safe treatment, key things to know

What are the indication for each phase?

What are the current principles?
  • Energy builds up from the smaller electrode to the larger one
    Electrode to return plate
  • The TECAR current always has a biological effect on tissue, whatever its intensity.
    Energy transfer
  • Winback currents require a good connection
    Cream and good contact
  • Current always takes the shortest path between two contact points
    Electrode placement
  • Current requires two points of contact
Machine stops automatically if contact is lost
  • The current remains the same regardless of the contact surface
    Electrode size and contact area
How do I adjust the intensity?
  1. The intensity depends on the stage of the pathology and the desired effect.
  2. Start slowly and gradually. Increase according to patient comfort.
  3. Make sure you get feedback from the patient on the heat level throughout the treatment.
  4. Don’t forget to use a conductive cream on the treatment area.
  5. Remember: CET = local heat & RET: deep heat
What are the possible treatment frequencies and durations?
  • How often can WINBACK Tecar be used?
These treatments can be performed several times a day. Treatment intensity and duration need to be adjusted according to the pathology being treated and the patient’s feedback.
In the case of an acute pathology, it is necessary to give the body time to recover. it will therefore be necessary to space out the sessions by a few days.

In a sports environment, athletes can see benefits in using a low-intensity treatment before intense training or competition to stimulate vascularization, prepare tissues for load and movement, and after exercise to promote cellular healing and speed up the recovery phase.

  • How long should a session last?
A session can last from 5 minutes to over 45 minutes. It is important to adapt the duration and intensity of treatment to the patient’s condition (acute, sub-acute, chronic). The longer the session, the lower the intensity.
What are the precautionary principles with tecartherapy?
  • Use only a conductive cream
  • Hairy areas require more cream
  • Remove jewelry from the treatment area
  • Avoid contact with hair and clothing
  • Hold the electrode in your hand as far as possible
  • Keep electrode in close contact with skin
  • Do not place plates on bony prominences
  • Ask for regular temperature feedback
How do I position the electrode?
  • THE CURRENT FLOWS FROM THE ELECTRODE TO THE RETURN PLATE.

What are the different return electrodes?

Several accessories allow you to close the circuit.

  • Large return plate, ideal for large treatment areas
  • Neutral handle for upper limb treatments
  • Adhesive electrodes, ideal for active treatments (reusable 1/2 times per patient)
  • The Tecar X, which can be used as a return (on the BACK4) or the Tecar mobile handle (BACK3TX)

And on the patient side?
  • How can a patient prepare for a Tecar WINBACK session to maximize its effects?
Patients are advised to keep well hydrated between each session.
Patients should avoid applying cosmetics, creams or essential oils to the area to be treated before coming to a Winback session.
  • What should patients expect during and after WINBACK treatments?
During treatment, the patient feels no electrical sensation. Depending on the intensity and mode selected, the sensation of heat can vary from mild to hot, from superficial to deep. Treatment must always be comfortable.
Patients generally experience an immediate reduction in pain.
After treatment, the sensation of heat can last up to an hour or two. Pain reduction generally lasts 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
